The YMCA embraces people of all ages, incomes,
abilities, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. We work to break
barriers of isolation and to create the connections that add meaning
to life.
Participants with a financial need are encouraged
to apply for Y scholarships. The YMCA uses a sliding scale to
evaluate each applicant. Through gifts to the annual Open Doors
Scholarship Campaign, YMCA's throughout the country makes
its services available to thousands in communities every year.
Annually, the YMCA provides in excess of millions of dollars in
scholarships through gifts made by YMCA friends and donors.
Please make a pledge and open the door for someone
who needs what the Y provides. If you would like to apply for an
Open Doors scholarship, please contact your local YMCA branch.

TENNESSEE TITLE VI COMPLIANCE
COMMISSION
PAID TO DO NOTHING
By ENOCH HAGANS
Title VI states that no person in the United
States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from
participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination
under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
The problem here in the
city of Clarksville, Montgomery County government and the state of Tennessee is
that minorities are not involved in the decision-making process of how federal
dollars are being spent here. Local and state officials are often confused and
perplexed as to how Title VI actually works and presently to date have no Title
VI implementation plans on the city or county levels.
When citizens approached
the Tennessee Title VI Compliance Commission with their complaints and concerns
members of the commission could not achieve a quorum to review and discuss Title VI
complaints that were filed against state public agencies receiving federal
financial assistance

A Black Man's Apology to Black
Women
Written by Enoch Hagans
Black women we as Black men have let you down and the whole world knows it. We
have let our freedom get away from us and the consequences of our actions have
been tragic. There can be no excuses for our lack of action in taking care of
our responsibilities.
Black men you know what responsibilities I am talking about;
(1) Leaving our women (Mothers, Wives & Girlfriends) to raise our children by
themselves;
(2) Abandoning our children;
(3) Refusal to financially support our sons, daughters and women;
(4) Being an active participant in the criminal justice system i.e. jail, prison
or on probation;
(5) Being ignorant and rude in public;
(6) Not graduating from High School or obtaining a GED;
(7) Abusing our women verbally, mentally and physically;
(8) Using our women for casual sex;
(9) Just being known as the baby’s daddy and no more;
(10) Selling, buying or using drugs that brings down our community;
(11) Living off Mom and using her for financial support;
(12) Blaming everyone for their failures but themselves.
